What REALLY lies just below the surface of your skin?
It seems every gadget we find in the beauty aisle will help us glow and rejuvenate! So what is the secret trick that these products are trying to activate and what are we unlocking when we roll that facial roller or gently massage the serum in? Turns out we all have a hidden lymph system that is hanging out just below the surface of our skin that, when backed up or not functioning properly, can disrupt the health of our skin as well as our whole body!
The lymphatic system is actually a very critical part of our circulatory system and immune system. It is responsible for eliminating toxins, waste and excess fluid as well as moving white blood cells around the body to fight infection. Unlike the circulatory system where the heart acts as the pump, the lymphatic system does not have its own pump and must be activated through other methods. When it doesn’t function properly, it can become clogged. How? Well, too many toxins are a primary factor. Poor diet and overexposure to environmental toxins can overload the lymphatic system. In addition, lack of sleep, dehydration, stress, emotional trauma, infections, and lack of movement can stagnate and sometimes even stop the lymph flow.

Where exactly is this system?
I wondered that same thing. It is located throughout the body with little pockets or glands located primarily around the collar bone area, the underarms, and the crease of your hips/pelvis. Here is a picture I found that helped me – it may be helpful for you to visualize where these little glands hang out in our body since we will discuss different ways to activate and encourage proper function of the lymph system this week!

Back to all those little gadgets we can find – it turns out they are definitely useful if you think your lymphatic system is not functioning optimally. This week I will share a number of fun gadgets like facial rollers, acupuncture mats, dry brushing, massage techniques, and of course absolutely free and easy ways to keep this part of your body functioning with ease! Join us at The Hassle-Free Family where we strive each week to share fun, and hassle free, ideas for your health and well being.
