Fresh Herb Turkey Burgers

Sometimes beef burgers feel too heavy and greasy for me so I had to find an alternative. I discovered that I absolutely LOVE a good turkey burger! This recipe is fast and easy and can be done on the grill, stovetop, or under the broiler with ease. We made these slider-sized for class so we reduced the cooking time. This recipe is kid-approved by my crew 🙂
Fresh Herb Turkey Burgers
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 12 minutes
Servings: 16 sliders (2 oz each) or 8 standard burgers (4 oz each)
Ingredients
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 2/3 cup soft (gluten-free, optional) bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup finely diced celery
- 1/4 cup finely diced onion
- 1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 1/2 pounds lean ground turkey
- 6 whole wheat hamburger buns, split or lettuce for a no-bun wrap, or use dinner rolls as buns for slider-side burgers.
Directions
- In a small bowl, combine the 1 egg, ⅔ cup of bread crumbs, ½ cup celery, ¼ cup onion, 1 Tbsp minced parsley, Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 tsp dried oregano, ½ tsp salt, ¼ tsp ground black pepper.
- Crumble raw ground turkey over mixture and mix well using clean hands and/or a fork.
- Shape into patties.
- On a greased grill, cook covered over medium heat OR broil 4 inches from the heat for 5-6 minutes on each side or until a thermometer reads 165° and juices run clear.
- Serve on buns or wrapped in lettuce.
- Top with cheese if desired, pepper jack is delicious on these!
*Note: these can easily be turned into meatballs – bake in a 350F oven for 20 minutes or so – until the internal temp reaches 165F; no pink in the middle.
Let me know how your burgers turn out!
