Elderberry Syrup Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 cups filtered water
  • 1/2 cup dried elderberries
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon or 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/4 cup fresh ginger slices
  • 1 tsp whole cloves, dried
  • 1/4 cup dried rosehips
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1 cup local honey
  • 4 drops Lemon Vitality Essential Oil

Method:

  1. Add everything except the honey and Lemon Vitality Essential Oil to a pot.
  2. Simmer for 30 minutes on a low heat
  3. Strain out the solids and mash them to release all the liquid. You should have approximately 2 cups of liquid.
  4. Allow the liquid to cool to a temperature between 110 F and 120 F, so the honey does not get damaged.
  5. Add 1 cup of local honey to the elderberry liquid; it should make roughly 3 cups.
  6. Add 4 drops of Lemon Vitality Essential Oil and mix.
  7. Store in the refrigerator in a covered container for several months.
