We are creeping up on New Year’s and a lot of people make resolutions to “be healthier”, “make better food choices”, or “stop doing XYZ bad habits”. And that is all fine, but I see people fail at that all.the.time. Why? Because they don’t have a strong enough reason to do it. They are lacking a strong WHY.

This is where this week’s discussion fits right in. I want to give you the background information on why choices like this or resolutions or whatever you want to call them are good for you and hopefully the information presented this week will help you solidify in your mind the WHY behind them.

This week we are covering detoxification and cleansing of the body. I’m breaking this up into a few days of videos and today I want to give an overview of the body’s normal process for detoxification.

Despite our best efforts to avoid toxins, encountering them is a fact of life. They are in the air we breathe, water we drink, foods we consume, products we use on our bodies and in our homes, medicines we take… the list goes on. Removal of these toxins is a natural process of our bodies.

common household chemicals can be toxins

Basic toxins include things like:
Plastics
Smoking
Household chemicals
Alcohol
Mold
Canned food because of the can liners
Fried foods because of oxidized fryer oils
Smoked foods because of the smoke
Trans fats… because they are trans fats 😉

detoxification happens in the gut

What Is Detoxification?

According to the dictionary, detoxification is “the metabolic process by which toxins are changed into less toxic or more readily excretable substances.” Our bodies have a built-in detoxification system that involves 3 primary organs – the liver, kidneys, and colon.

Join me this week as we dive-in to the science behind how the body detoxes and how we can either choose to support it or derail it.

We make choices every single day either help or hurt our body; very few things we choose to do have a neutral effect on the body. So keep an eye on The Hassle-Free Family this week to learn all the science-backed hassle-free tips for supporting natural detoxification and sticking to those New Year’s Resolutions you might be making in just a few weeks.
